(USS Nimitz - Ten Forward - COUNS - Lt John Harrison-1219) The fact that she accepted his plan to show her Ten Forward just showed how much she wanted to try. Harrison had always considered his role as a counsellor similar to that of a guide - it was up to the crew member in question to put the effort in to help themselves. "Okay, but only if you are there with me, I don't think I could do this alone. Oh and you didn't tell me what a 'scavenger hunt' is, or do you plan on letting someone else do that?" She said "I'll be with you every step of the way," he assured her, "A scavenger hunt is basically a game. We're split into teams and we have to find a list of objects before the other teams. I haven't played one before, so that's all i know. I'm sure the captain will explain for those who don't know. I hope he does, cos I'm not to sure myself now." They looked for an empty table and Harrison was relieved that Riz was not overly intimidated by the number of people here. "Um, sir, how do we get something to eat here?" She said. Harrison chuckled. "That confuses a number of people. Over here," he said, leading her to a replicator. "This is the easiest way to get what you want. It's a replicator - you just tell it what you want, and it'll cook it for you." He pressed the appropriate button and said clearly, "Cumberland sausages and cheddar mash in a large Yorkshire pudding." NRPG: Does the Nimitz have a cook? (reply Riz) (Posted by James) (USS Nimitz - Ready Room- CO- Captain Devan Sash - 1223) As the crew slowly left the meeting Sash watched Dartena move towards him. "Psst, is the Captain free for dinner tonight?" Sash gave her a weak smile. "Free? I doubt that, but reasonably priced, for sure. However, in light of the up coming mission, I;m not sure how free I'll be for a while." he could tell she looked more than a little disappointed, but she put on a brave face. "Remember, things are going to get pretty busy... and I have that new Ensign to help out with. New systems... you know how it is. Duty calls. We should take advantage of the time that's available when we can," Dartena said softly. The Angossian gave her a nod and his smile became a little more genuine. "You know, a night off sounds pretty good right now. I have a bit of work to do, but I think that I could use some down time tonight, begore things get really out of hand. Dinner it is? Shall I pick you up at your quarters at 1830 hours?" Shall I pick you up at your quarters at 1830 hours?" said Devan finally. Dartena grinned. She knew he was clearing his agenda for her and the thoughtfulness of the act made her happy. She would have, of course, understood if he said he was too busy. They both were, after all, busy. "That sounds wonderful. Where are we going?" she asked, wondering how she should dress for the evening, "Someplace where we don't have to worry about things for awhile I hope." (Reply Sash) (Posted by Jeff) (USS Nimitz - Conference Room- Captain Devan Sash and Lt. Darteena Bixx- 1227) "That sounds wonderful. Where are we going?" Darteena asked. "Someplace where we don't have to worry about things for awhile I hope." Sash looked thoughtful for a moment, then smiled. "I was thinking someplace a little more private. How do you like the beach?" Dartena considered it for a moment and then smiled, "Sounds wonderful. Its been a long time since I've gone to the beach, especially a beach at night." Sash smiled, "Then the beach it is. I have a little something I've been looking to share with you for a while now." With that he touched her cheek. Noticing that they were alone he leaned over and gave Darteena a little kiss. Then he winked, turned and was out the door. Dartena smiled to herself and almost bounced out the door to her quarters. She was excited and had to ensure she had something flattering to wear. The fact that Devan was interested in sharing something personal with her was exciting to her. (reply none) (posted by Al Muir and Jeffie B) (USS Nimitz- Ten Forward - FO - Lieutenant Commander Edward Wolfe - 1253) Edward listened to the low rumbling voice of the Chief Tactical officer. He knew that it was likely he'd have to find a replacement for StratOps at some point in the near future, perhaps the Brikar could fill this role, something to investigate more fully. "Indeed," the Brikar stated. "I believe that they were designed by Brikarian tactical advisors. You seem to have taken that engagement rather personally, Lt. Commander. You don't feel that the fact that you were substantially outnumbered played an important role there?" Edward paused and steepled his hands for a moment to consider the Brikar's words and his own response, the battle he was talking about was most clearly the same one Edward had been considering. Tagon obviously knew more than what he was letting on. He began to regard the Brikar slightly differently at thispoint. ~I'll have to have a look at YOUR record.~"I have no doubt that our being outnumbered played an important role, however I also believe that there is no such thing as 'no win'. While, technically, I suppose we did win, but at a rather horrible cost. I try to remind myself that we kept eight million inhabitants of the planet below safe, but it is sometimes small comfort. There are no guarantees that we won't be in a similar position and I want to ensure that we have the best edge available if that happens." (Reply Tagon, O'Neill) (Posted by Jeff) (USS Nimitz- Ten Forward - SC/TAC - Lt Dru Tagon - 1255) Tagon listened to the excuses that Wolfe gave himself to perpetuate his guilt over the lost lives, but at least he did see that in the end it was a victory, and that they had managed to save a world. Yet he did not seem comforted by this thought. To lose comrades in arms is always a troubled time, but that was their job, and to not expect death would simply be foolish. Tagon had not pegged Wolfe as a fool. "Having an "edge"," he said, "is always advantageous. And if there is one certainty in this war, it is that there will most definitely be a need to use all of the "edges" that we can come up with." The secrity chief then turned to O'Niell. "So you are saying that the holographic displays and controls are in place and functioning?" (reply O'Neill) "I'd like to have a chance to check them out before Lt. Commander Wolfe is required to bet our lives on them. When do you think I might be able to give them a test run?" (reply O'Neill) (posted by Al Muir) (USS Nimitz- Ten Forward - ACEO - Lieutenant Miles O'Neill - 1255) The secrity chief then turned to O'Neill. "So you are saying that the holographic displays and controls are in place and functioning?" "Not exactly. The team's still setting up the displays, and as Lt. Cmdr. Wolfe said, it's going to take some time." Miles replied. "I'd like to have a chance to check them out before Lt. Commander Wolfe is required to bet our lives on them. When do you think I might be able to give them a test run?" "It's a pretty big guess, but I would say in about two to three days. That reminds me, my shift begins in five minutes." Miles said. (Reply Wolfe, Tagon) He got up and said, "Sirs." He walked out of Ten Foward. (USS Nimitz - StratOps Dept. - ACEO - Lieutenant Miles O'Neill - 1300) "So, where are we?" Miles asked as he walked into the room. "Here." One of the engineers said as he handed Miles a PADD. "Alright, thanks Carter." Miles replied. He looked at the PADD, and started working with some other engineers to knock it the first item off the list. (Reply any) (Posted by Matt Kirk) (USS Nimitz- Bridge - FO - Lieutenant Commander Edward Wolfe - 1357) Edward stepped onto the bridge after leaving his 'interesting' lunch meeting with Tagon and O'Neill. He looked forward to seeing the StratOps centre when it was completed, but did feel a little... disappointed... that he wouldn't be the one operating it. Time does go on. Moving towards the centre seat, a Lieutenant stood up to meet him. "Sir, final personnel are ready to beam aboard from Starbase Geneva, final supplies and scientific equipment has been beamed aboard. The Engineering department continues its review of systems but nothing will interfere with any systems on board. There were no unplanned events or occurances," stated the Lieutenant. Edward nodded at him. "Thank you Lieutenant, I have the bridge, you are relieved," replied Edward, following protocol. "I stand relieved, you have the bridge, Sir," came the standard reply as the man walked back to a support station. Edward sat down in his chair and started to check log files. Lemar and his people were preparing for transport. This would put them slightly behind schedule as they had intended to depart at 1400. Edward sighed, ~these things happen.~ "Helm, plot a course for the Sol system. As soon as the last of the medical team are back onboard the Nimitz, engage at Warp 4," stated Edward. ~Cruising speed. Should give us enough time to decide how we want to enter.~ "Aye sir," came the response. Edward touched a key on the command chair, "All hands, we will be shortly departing. Please make a final inspection of all stations and report readiness." Please, take a seat." Ansia still thought of it as an order as she did not consider what the captain had said as a recommendation. As the Counselor gestured to one of the couches, she sat down and he moved to sit on the opposite couch. She placed her hands on her lap and looked up at the counselor waiting for the session to begin. "As we said earlier, I've read your evaluations and I do not judge people by what others say about them. Why don't we start off with how you feel about yourself and your evaluations?" Ansia thought for a moment not knowing where to begin. "I dont know where you want me to begin or what you want me to say. But, I guess I am ok with myself and as for the evaluations at the academy, well, in a way I guess they were fair." Then she stopped to see what else he wanted to know. (reply Harrison, any) (Posted by frank) (Starbase Geneva - Deck 16, Main Medical - ACMO Dr. Wendy Kildare - 14:10) The sound of Jonas' voice sent a chill down Wendy's spine. She knew that it had only been a couple of weeks since she'd seen him, but it felt a lot longer. She had many freinds on Geneva, but when they all hooked up with their significant others it made her miss him even more. And now, with his lame excuse to collect medical supplies, out of the blue. It was just like him. She wasn't sure if she wanted to punch him or kiss him. She chose the latter, and was happy for the choice. Unfortunately, his eexcuse was only half lame, for he had, indeed, come in need of medical supplies. The good news was that they got to spend a little bit of time in the supply closet together. And his hands did more than just go through the medical supplies. However, medical supplies were obtained, secured, and sent off to be transported to the Nimitz, and they were now alone. There was an uncomfortable silence. Jonas was unlike anyone she'd met before. He actually seemed to respect her, as a person and a doctor. Unfortunately, there were times that he was too respectful. She could have done with him grabbing her, and making love to her right then and there, but instead all he could come up with was, "Ummm... thanks for this." Not for the first time she wondered if he had the feelings twards him that she thought he did. When he had spent so much time with her on Geneva before reporting into Nimitz, she had half hoped that he might request a transfer. But she knew that was just a pipe dream. But still, they seemed to have so much in common, but he always seemed to have that air of seperation between them. she wanted to tak to him about it. She wanted to kow what he was thnking, what he was feeling. She wanted to know if he cared about her at all. She wanted to know if he'd strip down and do all the unmentionable things that she wanted him to do. Wait...that last thought just strayed into her head. Wendy opened her mouth to speak when Jonas' comm badge called him back to Nimitz. With a sigh they shared an embrace and Jonas stepped back. "I'll contact you as soon as I get settled," he said. The doors to the lab closed leaving Wendy alone... again. Wendy didn't know whether to cry or laugh. She leaned against the blk head and crossed her hands, deciding to have a good sulk. "Oh poop!" (reply none) (posted by Al Muir) (USS Nimitz - Deck 6, Transporter Room Three - ACMO Dr. Jonas Lemar - 14:12) Jonas was never quite sure whether or not it was all in his head. He had studied report upon report and read through numerous papers on the subject but still wasn't entirely convinced. Was that really a tingle he felt through his entire body as he materialised? Jonas stepped down from the transporter pad, smiling at the crewman manning the control station. "Another successful transport," he said as he stopped, quickly feeling over his arms and chest. It was something he had always done subconsciously, as if he was checking that every part of him had come out of the pattern buffer. "Did you expect anything less sir?" replied the crewman with a smile. With that he tapped his comm. badge, "Transporter room three to Ops" (reply: any at Ops) "The last of the medical supply team is aboard now sir" said the crewman in response. (reply: any at Ops) "Aye sir" he said, hitting his comm. badge again and closing the internal channel. His hands flew over the controls as he locked the panel and stepped down. Jonas nodded satisfactorily and headed out of the transporter room. He needed to head back to sickbay and find new homes for all the extra supplies he had asked for. Just then the alert panels turned blue, as sign the ship was preparing to undock. ~Didn't waste any time~ thought Jonas as he made his way along the corridors. (reply: none, any) (posted by Dave) (USS Nimitz - Bridge - Yeoman Ansia Rozen - 1445) Ansia left the counselor thinking that the time she had spent there was not a total loss. He had given her a few things to think about and she did get a chance to air her side of the story. She was not so sure that he believed what she said about the telepathic races, especially Betazoids, looking down on her as if she had a disease or something. But, she did feel a bit better about herself; it was a start anyways. After getting her quarters, she probably should have reported back to the captain. He probably should have been told that she would be in the counseling department if he needed her. But, she had done what he had, mandatorily suggested as the counselor put it, ordered her to do. She was now heading for the Bridge to see if the Captain had anything for her to accomplish. If he had any problems, she figured that he would tell her then. Stepping out of the turbolift, she noticed that Sash was sitting in his command chair. She had half hoped that he would have been in the ready room. Taking a deep breath, she walked over to him, waited for him to look up then she asked him, "Sir, I am sorry that I have not been around. I took the time to arrange for some quarters and see the counselor. Is there anything that you need at this time, Sir?" (reply from Sash, any) (posted by frank) (USS Nimitz - Bridge- Captain Devan Sash -1446) Sash was well aware that Beta shift had begun 45 minutes ago. But there was somethings that he had needed to take care of, and well... he liked being on the bridge. It had been one of the perks of his job that he had been denied for the majority of the day. So, he hoped that Wolfe wouldn't mind him taking a few moments of his shift in the command chair. Officially, the CO was on the Alpha shift schedule, however, unofficially, he didn't really stick to the shift schedule as he was never truly off duty. He just took the breaks he could when he could get them. And he wanted to be sure that the only reason for disturbing him tonight was something of extraordinary magnitude. He was just about done when his new aid stepped over to him. "Sir, I am sorry that I have not been around. I took the time to arrange for some quarters and see the counselor. Is there anything that you need at this time, Sir?" To be honest, he had kind of forgotten about her. So when she stated that she was not around he had to think about it. "Well, Yeoman, it had to get taken care of. I suppose we should go over what my expectations of you will be." (reply Rozen) Sash finished what he was doing then finally rose from his seat. Wolfe had already gotten them underway, and he took one last look at the adjusted starfields on the view screen. "Walk with me," he said to Rozen. Then he turned to Wolfe, and smiled, "I appreciate your indulgence Lt. Commander, my seat is now yours." He stepped towards the turbolift and checked to make sure that Rozen was following. He thought he saw Wolfe sigh heavily as he sat in the command chair. The turbolift closed and Sash ordered it to deck 8. "Yeoman," he began, "I believe that your job is to be my administrative assistant, especially in regards to the battle fleet. Your job is to keep me informed as to the status and condition of the fleet. You'll need to coordinate with someone on each of the ships. I'll have that listing sent to you in the morning. You are also stationed here as a systems specialist. On board you'll need to help Ops coordinate with tactical and engineering. I noticed that you are good with your hands, but your weapons scores barely passed the minimum requirement, so I will have you work with security to work on this area." He could see her look up in surprise, as if she were going to argue the point but he interrupted. "This is not open to negotiation. Where we are going you may not have the opportunity to do hand to hand combat, and I want to make sure that I'm not shot in the butt by my own people. Clear?" (reply Rozen) The turbolift stopped and the door opened. "I believe that this is your floor Yeoman," Sash said. "As I, apparently, have the rest of the evening off, so do you. Get to know the ship, and the people on it. Take the rest of the night off, and be ready for the real work tomorrow. Besides, you have some work to do on that scavenger hunt." With a wink and a smile he led her off the turbolift. Then he stepped back on and as the door closed he called out, "Have a good night."
